EVALUATION - Q.4) HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION & RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALAUTION STAGES?

It can be said that many new technologies were used in the process of making our music video. We also used alot of research aswell which helped us in the planning and evaluation stages in the process of the music video.

Here is a Powerpoint explaining the new technologies that we used in the process of making our music video:

EVALUATION - Q.3) WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?

Last year we received mixed emotions for the audience feedback that watched our thriller last year. This year with our music video it was the same feeling with mixed awnsers. We hoped that we improved the opinions of our audience to give them the best possible insight into our music video that they can possibly can. Hopefullly people of all ages will be satisfied with the music video.
We got our audience to watch our videos at schools and social networking sites such as:

Through face-book we managed to have a mixture of criticism for the music video. This was good as it aloud us to change what our audience did not like and helped us to learn what people would like in a music video. e.g for a video to be fun and exciting rather than unclear and boring.

HERE IS A SCREEN SHOT OF THE GOOD COMMENTS FROM FACEBOOK:

HERE IS A SCREEN SHOT OF THE BAD COMMENTS FROM FACEBOOK:
We wanted to get as much feedback to improve our video aswell as acknowlege the what people thought of our music video. I think the way that we can improve our music video is if we made the storyline a bit more clear and possibly used more locations outlining the chemistry more clear with the main boy and girl so people wouldnt be confused who has the crush on the main boy. That was common point that was raised in the process of completing our audience feedback.

We have a WORDLE and a video of our audience giving us feeback with a few questions we asked of them.

EVALUATION - Q.2) HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT & ANCILLARY TEXTS( DVD DIGIPACK, MAGAZINE ADVERT)?

I feel the combination of our main product and ancillary text i.e. DVD Digipack and Magazine cover was very effective. I say this because our music video matches our magazine advert and DVD pack, creating the glamorous image we wanted to portray. Just the way our music video is colorful, glamorous and aswell as having alot of dancing, we tried to do a similar pattern with our advert and DVD pack. Making the girls look like strong characters that we see them as in the video. We got the girls to pose in the magazine as the strong sexy indivuals that we wanted to portay them as.
We used Photoshop which helped us design the digipack and the advert/magazine to a professional standard .This shows that we were able to stick to the whole glamorous and colourful theme through pictures as well as our music video. The digipack and magazine steps and progress are shown below.
Here is the Progress of the Digipack to the finished DIGIPACK:

EVALUATION - Q.1) IN WHAT WAY DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS & CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS

My music video uses develops and challenges many different forms and conventions of real media products.
Firstly, we used different locations in our music video. This was done in order for our video to not be to seen as boring as that would be the case if it was done in one location. Therefore, after a lot of planning we decided to shoot our music video in various significant areas aswell as in the school. Outside school we managed to film around Buckingham Palace, St. James Park andThe Millenium bridge which was a gret experience as we got to film in the heart of londons most famous and influentional landmarks and locations.

The first major location outside school was St James Park. This is one of the scenes where the main girl had her dream about the main boy. We wanted to bring out the glamorous and ellegance that st james park has in our video which is why we chose this location. St James Park had gave us the chance to shoot alot of good scenes aswell as great angles involving a great estabilishig shot at the start of the "dream scene" at St James Park. which targets another convention of real media products and it had a lot of ellegance and a cliche background/story line which linked back to the sweet look we wanted to show in our music video.

Our second outside location was the millenium Bridge. Which was again a great experience here we had the dance scene of the girls singing the chorus. A lot of lip syncing was shown in this part of the video which I feel was done in a succesfully. This was a great choice for the music video as it showed the attractive image we wanted to portay with the attractive girls and attractive location. Here is two pictures of the locations:
Our last location that was used Outside school when we filmed around Buckingham Palace. We chose this location because we wanted to demonstrate our creativity and knowledge.
Firstly we filmed at Buckingham Palace as we believed that it was prestigious location that has a lot of significance to the country, since it’s where our Queen lives. Therefore thats one of the location where we wanted Khandi Floss to perform that last dance as it would follow the glamorous look as it’s also a glamorous location.

Furthermore, we also used lip syncing throughout the song and a lot of dancing. We had to make sure that all the lip syncing was in sync , otherwise it would of looked out of place which why we had to make sure that the final cut express editing was on point. The constant dance scenes and acting made the whole music video a lot of fun and very instresting to watch.

This music video was a challenge for us as we had to battle against the weather alot and with the cast of the video. People being Avalaible was hard at first but then we got it together in the end. When we first picked the song we had to listen out for the lyrics to think about ideas, Luckly for us the main girl that stared in the music video was part of the original KHANDI FLOSS group so we had an easier interpretation of how we wanted to do things in the video. Picking a storyline for the music video was not a problem because the title said it all CRUSH ON YOU", so we decided to take it Pop/RnB style as that was the genre of the song and keep the storyline solid and complete.

After Filming and editing our music video I came to realise that the storyline was stronger as we got to exercise in the video what was said in the song. The original song never had a video so we made our own video for the song showing the journey of the music video. E.g. from the main girl having a crush to the end where she finally gets the main boy. I believe there was a lot of transcations and different editing styles e.g. fades and disolves which fall into the special effect category which helped make the music video very insteresting to watch and memorable.

Completed Digipack

We've finished our final version of our very owndigipack. It took a bit of time but we managed to get on top of things and complete it finally. We decided to use Photoshop to create the digipack because it was the only software that allowed us to use the digipack template and the pictures we took for the digipack. We used a variety of pictures in the digipack e.g. we had group pictures and individual pictures. This is so that the digipak is realistic to an R&B album. In the actually digipak there was a lot of colourful and vibrant colours used because again it represents how bubble and fun the band (Khandi Floss) is.

Here is the template for the "KHANDI FLOSS- CRUSH ON YOU" digipack:

Starting Our Digipack

Researching the digipack gave us an idea how to start and make a digipack. Therefore we arranged a day where everyone could be available because it was important to have all 3 girls as it’s their album. We gave the girls an indication to what dress code the girls should have because organisation is key to a digipack. Looking at Destiny’s Child albums they have the same look and theme as they didn’t want to confuse the audience with disorganisation. Once we had the girls, we started by taking pictures of the girls round the school because that’s what we are using for the digipak. We used 4 different locations round the school to take the pictures.

The locations were;• LOCKERS• PLAYGROUNDDRAMA ROOMSIXTH FORM BLOCK
In each of those locations Meghan who was our photographer took about 3 pictures from each place.

Here are 4 of my favourite pictures from the different locations:

BARCODE

I created a barcode for the Digipack. I felt that if we researched and used any barcode on google images (for example) then it wouldn’t be original therefore we wanted to be creative and do our own. The barcode was created on Windows Paint. I got a small template from online and then edited it myself on windows paint. The barcode will be going on the back of the Digipack at the bottom as every single/album has one. Here is the barcode that was made:

Examples of a Digipack

One example of a digipak is Michael Jackson’s This Is It album:
That album is a digipak because it contains 2 discs and the ablum actually has gatefold (book-style), which means it closes like a book. I believe that the This Is It album is the best example because it's probably one of the most successful album ever. The album was the twelfth best selling album of 2009 in the United States and the third best selling album of 2009 based on worldwide sales.
Another example of a digipak is Kanye West album Heartless:

What is a digipack?

Digipack is an original style of compact disc or DVD packaging. Digipacks typically consist of a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. Digipack-style packaging is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums and the tall DVD Digipak (DVD Digipack) is used as a premium package for DVDs and DVD sets.Above is a picture of what a standard digipack looks life.

Rap Scene

This is a picture of the Rap Scene. We chose to do the rap scene in another classroom because this matches the school typical school environment of the music video. The rap scene looks really good. We made alot of ammendments to this bit as it does stand out amongst other significant scenes in the music video. A lot of transitions were uses aswell with split screens and disolves we wanted to portray the rapper in a certain and we believe this was the right way.

Concert Picture

Here is the first picture of the concert scene. This scene was very fun to film. We had the girls dancing on the stage with the crowd screaming KHANDI FLOSS which looked like a real life concert which was really good. It took a lot of effort with the girls hittin the right steps, gettin the audience in order. However this picture was taken before they arrived.

Side Walk (Opening scene)

Here is a picture of the sidewalk the girl (KHANDI FLOSS) did when walking down in on the path at the beginning of the video :

Locations

We have managed to get all the locations and plans we have for certain scenes. We have also made the plan to fim at certain times to avoid bad weather and disappointments from other distractions that can occur in the process of the making the music video
